Testimony of
John McComb

I am the
son of officer parents & was brought
up to love and serve God from an
early age. I accepted Christ as
Saviour in my teens in Toowoomba,
Queensland and became a soldier in
the Salvation Army. I learnt to play
a cornet at a very early age and
accepted the position of bandmaster
of the Toowoomba Salvation Army band
at the age of 19.
My chosen
profession is Mechanical Engineering
and in order to complete my degree,
my wife Gladys & I transferred to
Brisbane in 1961. After 20 years
worshipping at Brisbane City Temple
Corps, my work required that I
transfer to Sydney in 1981, where we
joined the Parramatta corps,
together with our four children.
In 1982 I
accepted the position of bandmaster
of the Parramatta band, a position
which I held for 10 years.
I am now
semi-retired but still do part time
consulting work. I continue to play
cornet in the Parramatta SA band as
well as with the Sydney Veterans SA
Band. I still believe in the
ministry of the Salvation Army to
save souls, grow saints and serve
suffering humanity.
